How soon is my domain name active after registration?
A domain name is registered within a few minutes. You receive an immediate confirmation by email with login details for your account. DNS propagation can take up to 24 hours, but for .nl domains it is often faster.
What is the difference between a domain name and web hosting?
A domain name is the address of your website — such as yourcompany.com. Web hosting is the server space where your website files and emails are stored. You need both for a working website. You can order both at Domein Direct.
Can I register my domain name privately?
Yes. With our private domain registration (privacy protect) your name, address and contact details are not visible in the public WHOIS database. You remain the legal owner of the domain name.
What if the domain name I want is already taken?
You have a few options: choose a different extension (.com instead of .nl), add a keyword or place name, or use our AI domain generator for creative alternatives. Sometimes a takeover is possible via our support team.
Can I transfer my existing domain name to Domein Direct?
