Personal data we process
Domein Direct processes your personal data because you use our services via Domein Direct and/or because you provide this data to us yourself. Among other things, we process:
- First and last name
- Company details
- Address details
- Telephone number
- Email address
- IP address
- Bank account number
- VAT number
- Chamber of Commerce (KvK) number
Special and/or sensitive personal data
Our website and/or service does not intend to collect data about website visitors who are younger than 16 years of age, unless they have permission from a parent or guardian. However, we cannot verify whether a visitor is older than 16.
We encourage parents to be involved in their children's online activities, in order to prevent data about children from being collected without parental consent. If you are convinced that we have collected personal data about a minor without consent, please contact us via info@domeindirect.com. We will then delete this information.
For what purpose and on what legal basis we process personal data
Domein Direct processes your personal data for the following purposes:

- Calling or emailing you if this is necessary to deliver our services
- Informing you about changes to our services and products
- Offering you the option to create an account
- Delivering goods and services to you
- The registration of domain names
- Legal obligations, such as tax returns
Automated decision-making
Domein Direct makes decisions based on automated processing. These are decisions made by computer programs or systems, without human involvement.
Domein Direct uses, among others, the following systems:
- An online invoicing and provisioning system for domain names and hosting, through which invoices are sent automatically.
- An online accounting system hosted by a Dutch company.
- MaxMind Fraud Prevention, to detect fraud during orders and to protect our services against automated attacks.
- A Web Application Firewall and Brute Force Detection, to detect external attacks and to block requests to specific websites from one or more locations.
How long we keep personal data
Domein Direct does not keep your personal data longer than is strictly necessary to achieve the purposes for which your data is collected.
For basic records such as the general ledger, the accounts receivable and accounts payable records and the purchase and sales records, a retention period of 7 years applies due to the statutory retention obligation towards the Dutch Tax Administration (Belastingdienst). Emails relating to business operations are also kept for 7 years.
Sharing personal data with third parties
Domein Direct does not sell your data to third parties. We only provide data if this is necessary for the performance of our agreement with you, for example for registering a domain name, or to comply with a legal obligation.
With companies that process your data on our behalf, we conclude a data processing agreement to ensure the same level of security and confidentiality. Domein Direct remains responsible for this processing.
Cookies or similar technologies
Domein Direct and selected third parties use cookies or similar technology for technical purposes and, with your consent, for experience, measurement and marketing.
A cookie is a small text file that is stored on your computer, tablet or smartphone on your first visit to this website. The cookies we use are necessary for the technical operation of the website and for your ease of use. They ensure that the website works properly and can, for example, remember your preference settings. They also allow us to optimise our website.
Cookies are also placed on this website by third parties. We use Google Analytics and Google Ads. Domein Direct has concluded a data processing agreement with Google.

Accessing, correcting or deleting your data
You have the right to access, correct or delete your personal data. You can do this yourself via the personal settings of your account.
In addition, you have the right to withdraw any consent you have given for data processing or to object to the processing of your personal data. You also have the right to data portability. This means that you can submit a request to us to send the personal data we hold about you, in a computer file, to you or to an organisation designated by you.

To make sure that the access request was made by you, we ask you to enclose a copy of your identity document with the request. In this copy, please black out your passport photo, MRZ (machine readable zone), passport number and citizen service number (BSN). This is to protect your privacy. Domein Direct will respond as quickly as possible, and in any case within four weeks.
Domein Direct would like to point out that you have the right to lodge a complaint with the national supervisory authority, the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens).
